Happy New Year everyone! To all our dear shortwave listeners Good evening! Good morning! Wherever you are. Welcome to the January 2010 edition of the Philippine DX News. This is report No.35.I’m Henry Umadhay in Antique, Central Philippines. Glad to be back and thank you for tuning bye.

For the first item, about my QSl collection. I have several hundreds of QSL cards and verification letters received, the recent one from the Voice of Mongolia and Solomon Islands broadcasting Corporation.

Hope Channel is located at the top floor of the South Philippine Union Conference headquarters in Cagayan de Oro City,Southern Philippine

Attending from the world headquarters were Pastor Brad and Mrs Kandus Thorp, president and vice-president, respectively, of the Hope Channel. Pastor Thorp spoke about the beginning and transformation of Hope Channel into a worldwide media ministry of the church that broadcasts thousands of programs that cater to all age groups on all its 13 satellite stations covering the globe.

December 12 Radio Slovakia International on 13715 from Rimavska Sobota in English @ 0700 S-I-O 3-3-3 with Slovakia Today program.

December 14 Radio Thailand on 15275 from Udon Thani in English @ 0214 with the news S-I-O 4-5-4

And December 28 All India Radio on 17800 from Bangalore in English @1022 S-I-O 3-4-3 with folksongs and faithfully yours program.

Our DXer friend Henk Ruigrok from the Netherlands now taking his vacation here in the Philippines in his QTH in Davao Del Sur sent the ff logs:

November 11, He heard Radio Netherlands on 15595 in English @1450 via Madagascar,transmission for Africa

November 16, radio Television Malaysia (RTM) on 15295 in English @ 0733

November 20, NHK Japan on 5955 in Bahasa Indonesia @ 1330

December 3 CVC Australia on 13635 @ 1457 in English- very loud and clear signal

December 3, Voice of Armenia on 9965 @ 1550 in Russian language.

December 8, Radio Free Europe on 9940 @ 0545 transmission from Czech Republic

D ecember 14 Radyo Pilipinas Overseas on 15285 @ 1830 in English transmission, qsb fading

December 17 All India Radio on 9690 in English @ 1442

He is using Yaesu Frg-7 Receiver and Digital Siemens Rp-170 Receiver, using 97 meter long wire at 20 meter top.

Our regular contributor T.C. Patterson sent his new Years logs.

A few mid-afternoons New Year’s logs from the 22 meter band (or close thereto).  These were heard between 0700 and 0730 on New Years Day:

12759        DIEGO GARCIA (UK) – AFRTS USB relay via Diego Garcia in English:*

13362        GUAM (USA) – AFRTS USB relay via Barrigada in English;

13630        AUSTRALIA – Radio Australia from Shepparton in English;

13715        SLOVAK REPUBLIC – Radio Slovokia Int’l from Rimavska Sobota in English;

13760        NORTH KOREA – Voice of Korea from Kujang in Russian; and

13820        ASCENSION (UK) – BBC World service relay via Ascension in English.

All of these were heard using the ICOM R75
